Pop star-turned-actress Jessica Simpson recorded a rendition of the Lee Hazlewood classic "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" for the soundtrack to the 2005 film "The Dukes of Hazzard." Jessica's cover was co-produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and was released as the soundtrack's first single. becoming her fifth Top 20 single in the US.
"These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" peaked at #14 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and in late 2005 the RIAA certified the single Gold for 500,000 legal downloads or more. It became her biggest hit in Australia, where it reached #2 and remained in the Top 40 for 24 weeks. It was also her first Top 5 hit in the UK, where it peaked at #4. The single also peaked in the Top 20 in New Zealand, Austria & Switzerland.
